A new public school for Chérot!

The provincial government announced on Wednesday, March 19th that St. Albert Public Schools will receive funds to begin the planning stage for a new 900-student K-9 school in the Chérot neighbourhood.
Next steps:
- Continue to work with the City of St. Albert to change the designation for the Chérot amenities site from a “high school” to a “school”.
- Finalize site preparations and proceed to the design stage, followed by the construction phase.
St. Albert Public Schools hopes to design, tender, build and open the new school within three years.
Our Board of Trustees has been advocating at both the municipal and provincial levels to ensure that our school division can continue to meet the needs of our rapidly-growing community and school population. This school is the first step in meeting these needs in a timely manner and we appreciate the efforts of both St. Albert’s city council and the provincial government in recognizing the importance of constructing new schools to accommodate our students.
The school’s name and programming options will be decided upon in the upcoming months.
