Air Quality Index

As we enter forest fire season, our schools will monitor Enivronment Canada's air quality health reports and the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI). When the AQHI rating is 7 or higher, our schools will modify outdoor activities to ensure students are not exposed to outdoor air pollutants. This could include:

• cancelling outdoor activities;
• reducing the duration and/or intensity of outdoor activities;
• providing opportunities for students who have additional health or breathing considerations to remain indoors;
• moving to indoor recess; and/or
• postponing or cancelling special outdoor events that cannot be modified for the indoors.
